The 2006 Worth Library Seminar Series

French Books and Irish Research

A one-day seminar on French Books and Irish Research was held on the 18th December, 2006. This was accompanied by a related exhibition on French Book bindings.


PROGRAMME

9.30 – 10.00am:  Registration and Welcome.

10.00am: Dr Charles Benson, Keeper of Early Printed Books, Trinity College Dublin:ACQUISITIONS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH.
Moderator: Dr Maire Kennedy, Dublin City Library.

11.00am: Coffee.

11.30am: Professor Pierre Aquilon, Centre d’Études Supérieures de la Renaissance, François Rabelais Université, Tours: – INCUNABLES
Moderator: Dr Sylvie Kleinman, Dictionary of Irish Biography.

12.30-2.00pm BREAK FOR LUNCH (not included).

2.00pm: Dr Kathleen Shields, Department of French, National University of Ireland, Maynooth: – FRENCH LANGUAGE RESOURCES AT THE WORTH.
Moderator: Dr Marion Lyons, Saint Patrick’s College, Drumcondra.

3.00-3.15pm: Technical Intermission

3.15pm: Professor Jean-Paul Pittion, Centre d’Études Supérieures de la Renaissance: – PARISIAN TITLE-PAGES IN THE SIXTEENTH CENTURY.
Moderator: Dr Derval Conroy, University College Dublin.

4.15pm: Round Table and Open Discussion (in the chair Dr Kleinman)
5.00-6.00pm: Wine Reception Hosted by the French Cultural Service.
